Dogs We Dig #6: Daryl Donald

Scottish beatmaker Daryl Donald's music gives us the warm and fuzzies. We stumbled upon his sounds a while back and fell in love. His beats have become unofficial anthems for JFO, featuring as soundtracks for a bunch of our videos. This guy knows what’s up.

Daryl Donald has been at it for seven years. His production is driven by a pure obsession with music, inspired by the likes of J Dilla, Madlib, Pete Rock, Large Professor and Flying Lotus. “Those are the producers that actually made me want to make music to begin with. Obsession with music inspires the stuff I make."

Daryl spends his days hunting for samples that strike a chord (ha) and overlaying them with carefully selected drums. The result is a bunch of beautiful, crisp hip-hop beats - sound with soul. If you listen hard enough, you can actually hear the dopamine being released into your brain.

Daryl's album Solitude is available on Bandcamp. Feed your ears, lift your mood - do it now.
